The Douro Valley is a wine region in Northern Portugal. It takes its name from the Douro River which is notable for the creation and production of a mildly fortified wine: port, grapes, conventional wines and other agricultural produce. The area is famous across the world and has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
